Read More »Ganadora y Menciones del Premio Juan José Giambiagi 2020

Ganadora y Menciones del Premio Juan José Giambiagi 2020

December 14-18, 2020 (by videoconference)
ICTP-SAIFR, São Paulo, Brazil

This workshop was originally intended to be an in-person workshop held at ICTP-SAIFR in São Paulo focusing on the Latin American community working in different aspects of theoretical and observational cosmology. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic this workshop will take place online. Understanding the limitations of online events we decided to follow a somewhat different format. We will take advantage of pre-recorded talks in order to leave ample time for discussions. The pre-recorded talks will be available beforehand and the participants can watch them at their convenience.Read More »Latin American Workshop on Observational Cosmology

Latin American Workshop on Observational Cosmology

December 7-9, 2020 (by videoconference)
ICTP-SAIFR, São Paulo, Brazil

The goal of the workshop is to bring together theorists and experimentalists to discuss searches, theories, results, opportunities, and, in general, new ideas for sub-GeV dark matter. It will focus on models and regions in parameter space that are overlooked by the standard WIMP studies, and that may open a new window into the dark sector. If the WIMP paradigm turns out to be wrong, new theoretical and experimental directions may prove to be of outmost importance. This workshop aims at developing such ideas, paving the way for the discovery of dark matter.Read More »Workshop on New Trends in Dark Matter

Workshop on New Trends in Dark Matter

December 2-4, 2020 (by videoconference)
ICTP-SAIFR, São Paulo, Brazil

Dark Matter constitutes one of the big mysteries in today’s Physics. Astrophysical and cosmological data hint at the necessity of physics beyond the standard model, although its characteristics are still currently unknown. The multidisciplinary effort in understanding the nature of dark matter has gathered a diversified community to study the experimental properties and theoretical expectations of different candidates. Over the last decades, high energy astrophysicists and theoretical physicists, astronomers and experimentalists developing collider and smaller experiments, cosmologists and experts in numerical N-body simulations have been working together in order to unravel the puzzle of Dark Matter.Read More »3rd South American Dark Matter Workshop

3rd South American Dark Matter Workshop

The ICTP South American Institute for Fundamental Research (ICTP-SAIFR), located at the campus of the Instituto de Física Teórica (IFT-UNESP) in São Paulo, announces the opening of up to 3 FAPESP postdoctoral positions to begin in 2021 in the area of quantum field theory/string theory. The fellowships are part of the “São Paulo Excellence Chair” FAPESP Program and physicist Pedro Vieira is the main researcher of this project.

IFT-UNESP has a strong string theory group including Nathan Berkovits, Horatiu Nastase and Andrei Mikhailov with whom the candidate can interact, and the neighbouring university USP also has a very strong quantum fields and string group including Victor Rivelles and Diego Trancanelli.Read More »Postdoctoral positions in field/string theory
